Who we are

The Art of Building Tomorrow

Gossmann & Cie. is an entrepreneurial Group dedicated to building, rebuilding and stewarding companies for a new era. Across our Group, we combine industry, transformation and regulatory experience with artificial intelligence to create enduring businesses for tomorrow.

They all share our mission:
The art of building tomorrow.

Building for a new era

The confluence of challenges and complexity facing companies today is unprecedented. Artificial intelligence alone marks a paradigm change and brings both, enormous opportunity and potential threat. As AI significantly expands corporate and individual capabilities, it is redefining how value is created, how organisations compete and where future alpha is built.

We have invested in AI since 2021, building on decades of experience in insurance and business transformation within regulated environments. We apply this technological advantage and expertise to the businesses we establish, acquire and develop.

Portfolio

The mission of our houses is to craft and build the value of tomorrow for our clients.

DGTAL develops and operates AI agents for regulated and data-sensitive industries – digital specialists designed to perform complex tasks autonomously and reliably. Combining a proprietary platform built over five years with deep experience in insurance and other data-inten- sive environments, we craft each agent for its specific workflow and re- main responsible for its performance from implementation through pro- ductive operation and continuous improvement

GC Partners works alongside investors, boards and senior executives through periods of fundamental change – helping them identify where lasting competitive advantage can be created, where future alpha lies, and supporting them from strategic direction through execution.

HISTORY

FOUNDATION CORPORATE HISTORY

Gossmann & Cie. was founded in 2018 by Arndt Gossmann, following the successful transformation of DARAG. Under his leadership, the former AIG subsidiary was transformed into Europe’s leading run-off insurance group.

This experience shaped the conviction behind Gossmann & Cie.: established industries will undergo fundamental change, while regulated business face the additional challange of navigating increasingly complex environments. This is both a challenge and an opportunity. It creates exceptional potential for those who combine entrepreneurial vision with deep industry expertise, regulatory understanding and the ability to see ahead.

These principles continue to guide Gossmann & Cie. in identifying, investing in and shaping insurance businesses for the future.

ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIPS

INSTITUTE OF INSURANCE ECONOMICS –
UNIVERSITY OF ST. GALLEN

The Institute of Insurance Economics (IVW) is one of Euro- pe’s leading academic institutions for risk management and insurance economics. Since 1949, it has brought together academic research and industry practice to address the op- portunities and challenges shaping the insurance sector. Gossmann & Cie. supports IVW and its dialogue between academia and industry. We believe the fundamental chan- ges ahead require both entrepreneurial action and inde- pendent academic research into how technology, regulation and changing customer expectations will shape the future of insurance.

Arndt Gossmann is a member of the Board of the Institute of Insurance Economics.

INSTITUTE FOR DIGITALISATION
AND BEHAVIORAL RESEARCH –
CODIVE

CoDiVe is an independent, interdisciplinary and non-profit re- search organisation exploring the interaction between people and technology in the digital age. Its research spans human- machine interaction, cognition and decision-making, trust in technology, AI adoption, learning and organisational change.

Gossmann & Cie. is among the founding partners of CoDiVe and actively supports its research projects. We share the conviction that realising the potential of AI requires a deeper understanding of how people interact with, trust and ultima- tely adopt new technologies.

PERSPECTIVES

We share our perspectives on the forces resha- ping industries – from artificial intelligence and transformation to insurance, regulation and entrepreneurship.

European MGAs – A Call for Relevance

Our view following the observations of the European MGA Summit in Paris:

European MGAs have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape insurance.

MGAs possess structural advantages that may now become more valuable than ever: shorter decision paths, fewer legacy constraints, proximity to clients and risks, and the entrepreneurial freedom to rethink operating models. But agility alone will not be enough.

In the United States, MGAs account for close to 12% of P&C premiums. Across Europe, the figure is approximately 3.7%, and in markets such as Germany and France, around 1%. The potential is substantial. But market share will not be redistributed simply because a statistical gap exists. Transformational growth requires two things: a significant opportunity and the right moment to pursue it. Europe’s MGAs may have both.

The moment: Agentic AI changes the economics

After years of experimentation, AI has reached the maturity required to operate entire workflows in production environments. We are impressed every day by the difference the AI agents of our AI company, DGTAL, make in insurance workflows. Agentic AI can fundamentally redefine risk selection, pricing, claims management, portfolio steering and client service. Production deployments already demonstrate significant improvements in productivity, speed and consistency. Importantly, investment requirements can remain manageable even for mid-sized organisations, as AI agents can work with existing systems.
